The Coach

The vehicle was purchased from McCafferty's coaches in Brisbane in June 2002. At that time it was still in service doing the Toowomba to Brisbane run on a daily basis. Being an in service coach it still had up until last year Queensland Transport Commercial registration - Serial No: 134317

The Original coach is a 1983 Denning Mono with tag axle Number DA-995 first registered in October 1983. This vehicle shortly after had a factory refit to Denning 1986 specifications which has the "Landseer" roofline and front that can be seen in the picture on the top left.

Roof Lift

In December 2002 - March 2003 the coach under went a 300mm roof raise and complete window refit including all side panels which gives it the rivet-less, flush window look it has today. This work was carried out by Geelong Coachworks, in Norlane , Geelong. All original coach windows were removed as was the older side panels and tinted laminated glass was fitted to suit the interior design. This gives an interior head room height of 6' 4"throughout. This includes the flat roof false ceiling that hold the downlight and ventilation systems.

Thermo King Air Conditioner remains fully operational.

The Motor

A rear mounted Detroit GM 871fitted to and Eaton/Fuller 5 speed highway gearbox drives the coach. The first and last engine overhaul was done by McCafferty's approximately 180,000km ago. I was told these in place engine rebuilds are done at approximately 750,000km intervals giving this 310 horsepower 871 plenty more years as a motorhome. The engine is very healthy and can run the motorhome at a cruising speed of 100km/h with ease.

The registered GVM of the vehicle drive line and suspension is 19100kg. The motorhome fully fitted out and loaded with its water and fuel tanks full comes in just over 15000kg. The fuel tank is a large 650 litre tank that will give you close to a 1900km range with approx  90 litres of fuel to spare.
